One man dead, another person in custody following shooting in rural Clinton County

A Jamestown man was found dead early Wednesday morning in rural Clinton County.

A 52-year-old male is in custody and being held at the Clinton County Jail pending charges.

“This was not a random attack. It is believed the victim and suspect were acquaintances of some kind,” Clinton County Sheriff Dan Travous said in a release.

At 1:11 a.m. Wednesday, June 7, the Clinton County Sheriff’s received multiple 911 calls reporiting a shooting at 610 Main St., Jamestown.

Deputies and emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene and located the deceased male, along with the individual who police arrested. Travous said the two were acquainted.

The victim’s name has not been released pending notification of family.

Jamestown is about 9 miles due north of Breese and 9 miles due east of Highland.

The Clinton County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate.
