A 19-year-old man was found shot to death in a vacant parking lot early Sunday in East St. Louis, according to police.

Marshon Martin, 19, of Renshaw Avenue, East St. Louis, was pronounced dead at the scene in the 600 block of Missouri Avenue at 3:30 a.m., according to St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr.

East St. Louis police asked the Illinois State Police to conduct a homicide investigation at 2:44 a.m., according to a news release from the state police.

“A victim was located deceased as a result of gunfire. The victim was identified as a 19-year-old male from East St. Louis.,” the release states. “The investigation is active and on-going and no further information will be released at this time.”

No other information has been released.
