Man arrested in slaying of woman at Fairview Heights motel, police say

Fairview Heights Police are investigating a homicide at the Super 8 Hotel, 45 Ludwig Drive.

According to a police department press release, the victim was a woman, and a suspect, her husband, is in custody. The man was arrested at a nearby bus stop by a Fairview Heights officer, police said.

“The scene is still being worked. There is no continuing threat,” the release stated.

Officers from the O’Fallon Police Department , Metro-East Auto Theft Task Force, St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s office, and Illinois State Police assisted in the overnight investigation.

“Our sincerest thoughts and prayers to the victim’s family,” Fairview Heights Police said in their release.
