Caseyville man charged with sexually assaulting babysitter

A 41-year-old Caseyville man is accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old babysitter.

Jeremy H. Embrich on Friday was charged in Madison County with two counts of criminal sexual assault, a Class 1 felony, and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a Class 2 felony, the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office said.

Embrich assaulted the 16-year-old girl who babysat for his child in January while he lived in Troy, the state’s attorney’s office said.

Charges were filed after an investigation by the Troy Police Department with assistance from the Madison County Child Advocacy Center, the Illinois State Police Crime Lab and Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center.

Embrich was being held Friday on $1 million bail in the Madison County Jail in Edwardsville, according to the state’s attorney office.

A Class 1 felony carries 4 to 15 years in prison; a class two felony carries 3 to 7 years in prison.

Embrich’s 15-month-old son was no longer in Embrich’s care when he was arrested.
