Belleville man arrested on first-degree murder charge in death of 42-year-old woman
A Belleville man charged in the June shooting death of a 42-year-old woman was arrested in Caseyville on Monday, according to an announcement by the Illinois State Police.
Robert E. Hyde Jr., 48, was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service, the announcement states.
He is charged with first-degree murder in the June 12 death of Kenyatta Brown, 42, of East St. Louis, the release states.
Brown was found dead with a gunshot wound in the 1300 block of 45th Street, the release states. On June 12, 2024, PSEG agents were requested by the East St. Louis Police Department to investigative a homicide in the 1300 block of 45th Street.
The next day, agents of the Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation Public Safety Enforcement Group presented their case to St. Clair County State’s Attorney James Gomric, who filed the charge against Hyde.
The release does not explain why more than a month elapsed between the charge being issued and Hyde’s arrest.
Hyde is being held in the St. Clair County Jail. No further information was released.
