A Belleville man was arrested and charged Friday in the shooting death of a 16-year-old in East St. Louis in October.

John Mosley, 37, faces three felony counts, including first-degree murder, according to St. Clair County Circuit Court records.. He also was charge with aggravated discharge of a firearm and felon in possession of a firearm.

According to Illinois State Police, East St. Louis police responded to the 3000 block of Converse Ave. on Oct. 30. Officers there found a 16-year-old who had been wounded by gunfire. The 16-year-old, whose name has not been released, was taken to an area hospital and later declared dead.

State Police did not say how Mosley was identified as a suspect in the shooting. U.S. Marshals Friday took him into custody Friday. He has been ordered held in the St. Clair County Jail until trial. His next appearance in court is scheduled for Dec. 27.
