A Shiloh woman faces charges of attempted first-degree murder and aggravated domestic battery in connection with the stabbing Saturday of a man she had been dating, police said Monday.

Marnequa T. Allen, 22, of the 2600 block of Sierra Drive in Shiloh, was charged Sunday and was being held in the St. Clair County Jail Monday, the Shiloh Police Department said in a news release.

The 25-year-old victim was stabbed in his chest and is in critical condition in an undisclosed hospital.

Police were called at about 1:04 a.m. Saturday to the 2600 block of Sierra Drive in Shiloh regarding a report of a man who was stabbed.

Shiloh and O’Fallon police officers provided life-saving measures to the victim until EMS arrived.

“The suspect, who was in a dating relationship with the victim, was taken into custody at the scene,” according to the news release.

No other details about the stabbing were released.

Court records do not list a defense attorney for Allen.

The St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office has filed a petition for a pretrial detention hearing for Allen but a hearing date has not yet been set.

Illinois judges have been conducting detention hearings since September 2023 for persons charged with serious offenses. If a judge considers a person dangerous to the community, the person can be remanded to the county jail until their trial, according to the revamped criminal justice system that eliminated cash bail as part of the Safety, Accountability, Fairness and Equity-Today, or SAFE-T, Act.
