Multiple charges have been filed against an East St. Louis man in connection with the shooting of 12 people at Venice nightclub late last year.

All 12 victims survived the shooting at Noots Lounge in the 1400 block of Broadway on Nov. 24.

Delvarrion D. Harris, 30, now faces 12 counts of aggravated battery with a firearm and a single count of felon in possession of a weapon.

The charges were filed on Dec. 20 but remained under seal until Tuesday, after Harris was taken into custody, according a release from the Madison County State’s Attorney’s office.

Harris was being held Tuesday at the St. Clair County Jail, pending a transfer.

Madison County State’s Attorney Tom Haine has petitioned for Harris to be held until trial, the release stated. A pretrial detention hearing had not been scheduled as of Tuesday evening.

According to police at the time, the shooting occurred at about 1:15 a.m. after fights inside the club spilled out into the parking lot. Responding officers arrived to witness customers fleeing the building. Multiple victims were discovered to have suffered gunshot wounds, several of which required hospital treatment.

Haine commended the Venice Police Department and other agencies that assisted in the investigation and apprehension of the defendant, including Illinois State Police, ISP Division of Forensic Services and U.S. Marshals Service.
