Police are looking for the shooter who killed metro-east teenager
Police are searching for the person who shot and killed an East St. Louis teenager Saturday night in East St. Louis.
Giovannie Anderson-Bey, whose last known address was in the 800 block of North 70th Street in East St. Louis, was identified as the victim by St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr.
Anderson-Bey was taken to Memorial Hospital in Belleville, where he died. Dye said he was pronounced deceased at 9:57 p.m. as a result of gunshot wounds.
Illinois State Police agents were dispatched to the 2400 block of Bond Avenue Saturday night to investigate a shooting.
Police arrived on scene at 9:37 p.m. Saturday. A civilian transported the victim to an area hospital, Illinois State Police said in a news release.
“Initial information suggested the incident may have occurred in St. Louis, Missouri, but after an extensive investigation, it was determined to have occurred in East St. Louis, Illinois,” the statement said.
No other information was released about the shooting.
