Two people were fatally shot and a third person was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries in East St. Louis, police said.

The names of the victims had not been released as of Friday afternoon.

The shooting occurred Sunday in the 2600 block of Renshaw Avenue in East St. Louis.

East St. Louis police along with members of the Illinois State Police Public Safety Enforcement Group responded to the shooting scene at approximately 10 p.m.

At the scene, police located two male victims with gunshot wounds.

“They were taken to an area hospital where they were pronounced dead,” a news release from Illinois State Police said. The third victim, a female, was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. No immediate information was available pertaining to her condition.

No arrests have been announced in connection with this shooting.

Illinois State Police is handling the police investigation and “the investigation is active and no further information will be released,” the organization said.

The two shooting deaths bring the city’s homicide total to six for 2025, according to reports published in the Belleville News-Democrat.
