Coroner releases ID of man shot and killed in East St. Louis overnight
A 33-year-old East St. Louis man died after being shot multiple times, police said.
St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr. said Dywaun Flowers, of 71st Street in East St. Louis, was pronounced dead at Touchette Regional Hospital in Cahokia Heights at 12:42 a.m. Friday.
East St. Louis Police were alerted to shots being fired at a Phillips 66 gas station in the 8300 block of State Street Thursday night. Officers there found Flowers with multiple gunshot wounds, according to a report from Illinois State Police.
The Illinois State Police Public Safety Enforcement Group continues to investigate the shooting.
