Man found with gunshot wounds in East St. Louis, later dies at hospital
An unidentified man was found with gunshot wounds in East St. Louis before daylight Friday morning. He later died at an area hospital.
East St. Louis police received a report of a man shot in the 700 block of North 26th Street. Illinois State Police Zone 6 Public Safety Enforcement Group was called to assist with the investigation.
According to a release from state police, investigators have not identified a suspect and would not detail any potential motive in the shooting.
No further information was available.
“The investigation is active and ongoing,” the state police press release said.
