A 19-year-old man was shot and killed in the 300 block of Greystone Drive in Cahokia Heights early Sunday morning.

Quan Vaughn of Cahokia Heights was identified as the victim by St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr.

The shooting occurred shortly after 5 a.m.

A motive for the shooting is still under investigation, police said.

Vaughn was taken by ambulance from the Greystone Apartments in the 300 block of Greystone Drive to Touchette Regional Hospital in Cahokia Heights, where he was pronounced deceased at 6:06 a.m. from gunshot wounds, Dye said. The last known address for Vaughn was 316 Greystone Drive, authorities said.

Cahokia Heights Police Chief Thomas Trice said Cahokia Heights police received a call reporting shots fired in the 300 block of Greystone Drive at 5:10 a.m.

“When officers arrived on scene, they found a 19-year old male with multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Services workers transported him to Touchette Regional Hospital,” Trice said.

“The case is under investigation by the Cahokia Heights Criminal Investigation Division,” he said.

“We are following up on several leads,” Trice said.

Trice confirmed Vaughn was a Cahokia Heights resident.

This is the fourth homicide in Cahokia Heights this year, according to reports published in the Belleville News-Democrat.
