Swansea police launch homicide investigation

The Swansea Police Department announced Sunday it has launched a homicide investigation in connection with a death in the 2100 block of Caseyville Avenue.

“Preliminary information indicates that the suspect is known to the victim,” according to a news release from the department. “This incident appears to be isolated and is not believed to be a random act of violence.”

Other information about the homicide was not released, including the name, gender or age of the victim, the time of the person’s death and whether anyone has been arrested.

A spokesman for the department could not be reached for comment Sunday.

“Detectives are continuing to gather evidence and conduct interviews as part of the ongoing investigation,” the department’s news released stated. “Additional details will be shared with the public as they become available.”
