A man in in his late 20s was shot in the buttocks Sunday night in Washington Park, police said.

Police Chief Allen Bonds said the victim told police he was sitting in a car at the Amoco BP gas station on Kingshighway when a dark color vehicle pulled up and someone from inside fired into the car he was in.

Washington Park Police Chief Allen Bonds said the victim told police he fled from the scene. He described the vehicle from which the shots were fired as “dark in color, maybe purple.”

“We found him at a residence in the 5,000 block of Adelaide on a porch where he said he fled to after he was shot,” Bonds said.

The injuries are not life threatening, Bonds said.

A motive for the shooting is unknown, Bonds said. Thus far police have no witnesses other than the victim’s account, Bonds said.
