Metro-east coroner IDs man killed in shooting

A 46-year-old Washington Park man was found dead from gunshot wounds early Thursday morning in the 5000 block of Warren Avenue.

Demario D. Walker was identified as the victim, according to St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr.

A news release from Illinois State Police said agents were requested by Washington Park police to investigate a shooting in the 5000 block of Warren.

Dye said Walker suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased at the scene at 5:14 a.m.

A last known address for Walker was in the 5000 block of Warren, Dye said.

Illinois State Police said the investigation is active and no further information would be released.

This is the fifth homicide in Washington Park this year, according to reports published in the Belleville News-Democrat.
