Investigation underway in metro-east after man found dead in vehicle

A homicide investigation is underway in Venice after a man’s body was found inside a vehicle early Thursday morning, police say.
Venice Police Department officers responded to a reported shooting in the 1200 block of Robin Street at approximately 1:46 a.m. Upon arrival, they located the body of a deceased male inside a vehicle, according to an Illinois State Police press release.
The Venice Police Department requested agents from Illinois State Police Zone 6 Major Crimes to handle the investigation.
The identity of the deceased man has not been released.
The press release says the investigation is ongoing and no further information is available.
