Investigators are seeking information regarding 12 dead deer apparently shot illegally from roads near Carlyle Lake in Clinton County.

The deer carcasses were first found by Illinois Conservation Police Friday in “fields a short distance” from roads in multiple locations in the Boulder community near the lake, according to a news release on Monday from Acting Chief Deputy Dennis R. Perez of the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office.

“Law enforcement believes there to be more deer that have been shot but have not yet been located,” the release states.

A Clinton County CrimeStoppers reward is being offered in the case for information that leads to the arrest and prosecution of anyone involved in the shootings.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 618-594-4555, ext. 2 or send an email to dennis.perez@clintonco.illinois.gov.
