Two arrested after Collinsville neighbors report a TV being carried down the street

Neighbors called police after observing two young men wearing gloves and carrying a large bag and a flat screen TV down South Street shortly before noon last Tuesday, which has now led to charges.

Jonathan T. Robinson, 20, of Collinsville was charged with one count of residential burglary, a Class 1 felony. The name of the other suspect was not released, because he is a juvenile.

The Collinsville Police Department received several calls about the pair, who were observed on South Clinton, Cemetery and South Center streets before arriving at an apartment in the 200 block of South Morrison, according to police.

Upon being approached, police said one of the young men fled on foot but was recaptured in the 200 block of Reed Avenue. The other was arrested at the apartment. The large bag and a 50-inch flat screen television were determined to have been stolen from a home on South Street, according to police, and other items in the apartment are suspected to have been taken in numerous vehicle burglaries.

Robinson is currently in custody at the Madison County Jail in lieu of bail set at $75,000, and police said they expect further charges against him.
