Belleville man under investigation in stabbing of hotel valet, police say
A Belleville man is under investigation in connection with the stabbing of a hotel valet on Thanksgiving in St. Louis, police said.
Brian Radley, 46, has been charged with felony resisting arrest, as well as misdemeanor counts of second-degree property damage and fourth-degree assault.
Radley was charged following an alleged threat against another employee at the Embassy Suites at 610 N. Seventh St., the reported destruction of pumpkins at the hotel, and for allegedly resisting St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department officers who responded to the scene on Thursday, according to court records.
A hotel employee told officers that Radley had been banned from the hotel following the stabbing of the valet, according to a probable cause statement. The condition of the valet was not listed in court records.
According to the charges, Radley allegedly threatened to stab the hotel employee who spoke with police.
“The defendant stated that he was going to kill and that he would stab him. The defendant then reached towards his waistband indicating that he had a weapon,” the court records state.
The charges also allege Radley threw pumpkins against a wall in the hotel.
The employee identified Radley to responding officers, who attempted to detain him in connection with the valet’s stabbing.
Radley “refused to submit to lawful commands,” and officers used a Taser on him, according to police.
A spokesperson for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department could not be reached for comment regarding whether Radley has been arrested on the warrant issued for him.
No bond has been set. Judge Katherine M. Fowler found there were “reasonable grounds” to believe Radley would not appear on a summons and that he is a “danger to the crime victim, the community or another person.”
