Police investigate early morning shots fired in south Belleville

A person of interest was taken into custody early Tuesday morning after police responded to shots fired in south Belleville.

Police responded to the 500 block of South 17th Street in Belleville at about 2 a.m. Captain John Moody said Belleville officers were dispatched to investigate, along with Illinois State Police’s K9 Unit.
