A man has been arrested in connection with a robbery at an FCB Bank in O’Fallon on Friday morning, police said.

The name of the suspect has not been released.

Officers responded at about 11:15 a.m. to the bank at 1501 West Highway 50, the department said in a news release. Police released security camera images of the man, saying he was last seen running east from the bank, police said.

The man shown in the photos is wearing a hat and sunglasses inside the bank and a photo taken outside the bank shows the man without the hat and sunglasses.

Friday afternoon, police updated the release to say they believe they’ve identified the suspect and then later said he had been arrested.

“Thank you for the overwhelming support! We are confident we have him identified,” the release said.

Joseph Arthur Middle School and Dawn Elser Elementary School were placed on “soft lockdown,” police confirmed. Lt. Patrick Feldhake said there is no known link between the two schools and the bank robbery and classes can continue normally inside the buildings.

No other details were released about the robbery.
