Man charged with targeting Swansea police officers in terrorist threats
A multi-agency investigation led to charges against a 28-year-old man for making a terrorist threat against Swansea police officers.
Michael L. Gilliam was formally charged with the Class X felony in St. Clair County last week.
According to a news release, the FBI contacted the Swansea Police Department that terrorist threats had been against officers on social media.
Investigators identified Gilliam as the alleged source of the threats and notified other law enforcement agencies that he remained at large. Belleville police made the arrest March 31 without incident, the release stated.
