Coroner IDs Belleville man found shot to death in East St. Louis
A 29-year-old Belleville man was shot and killed inside a vehicle in East St. Louis Friday morning and another person was wounded in the shooting, authorities said.
Davanta McCray of the 500 block of Abend Street in Belleville was found shot to death in a vehicle in the 2200 block of Market Avenue in East St. Louis, St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr. said.
McCray was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:10 a.m., Dye said.
The second victim was transported to an undisclosed hospital with a gunshot wound, according to a statement from Illinois State Police.
East St. Louis Police officers responded at 5:03 a.m. to the area of 22nd Street and Market Avenue for a report of a shooting and found a man fatally shot.
Illinois State Police agents are conducting the homicide investigation. No other information about the shooting was released.
