State Police investigate gunshot death in East St. Louis

Illinois State Police are investigating after they found a man dead with gunshot wounds in East St. Louis Saturday night.

State troopers responded to an area near the intersection of Washington Street and North 84th Street at approximately 10 p.m. after hearing gunshots, according to a release. There, they found the man dead.

Illinois State Police Troop 8, which serves St. Clair and other metro-east counties, requested Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 6 Public Safety Enforcement Group to assist in the investigation, state police said.

The state police said the investigation is ongoing and no further information is being released now.
