Police ask for help solving Madison murder; man's body found in pickup truck

Investigators are hoping for help from the public to solve a murder case in Madison.

The body of Mitchell Coleman, 44, of East St. Louis was found at about 1 p.m. Wednesday in the 1000 block of Washington Avenue when police responded to a call about shots being fired in the area.

Mitchell was found in a black Chevrolet pickup truck, dead of multiple gunshot wounds, according to investigators. Police covered the driver’s side window with a sheet. But the passenger’s side window was shattered with what appeared to be bullet holes in it.

The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis was activated to investigate the Murder.
