A Godfrey man was sentenced Tuesday in federal court to 10 years in prison after more than 3,500 image files and 185 video files that contained child pornography were found on his computer.
Adam B. Hill, 35, was ordered to pay $24,000 in restitution to the victims, a $200 fine and a special assessment of $100. Hill is also required to be on federal supervised release for five years following his prison sentence. He will be registered as a sex offender for the remainder of his life.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Department questioned Hill after it received a complaint on June 30 that a suspicious man appeared to be photographing young children. Hill was sitting in his vehicle outside a local swimming pool in Godfrey. An officer found a digital camera and a metal pipe used for smoking marijuana during a search of his vehicle.
Hill admitted during questioning that he had used file-sharing programs to download child pornography on the Internet for several years.
The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation Cyber Crimes Task Force and the Madison County Sheriff’s Department. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Ali Summers.
