East St. Louis police want to know who robbed and shot a 47-year-old woman shortly after she left a local club early Monday morning.
The victim was not identified by police.
Police Chief Michael Hubbard said police dispatchers received a call at 3:09 a.m. reporting the shooting. Officers were dispatched to Seventh Street and Summit Avenue to investigate the call. Once at the scene, they located the victim who was accompanied by a female friend, Hubbard said.
“The victim told our officers that after she left a local nightclub, she and her friend were robbed of their belongings,” Hubbard said. The unknown suspect fired multiple shots at the women. The victim was struck two times in the thigh and once in the hip with what is believed to be a small-caliber round, Hubbard said.
