Caseyville man sentenced for stealing funds from railroad retirement board

A Caseyville man was sentenced in federal court Thursday after admitting he illegally received disability benefits from a federal agency.

Dennis H. French, 53, will be on probation for three years, according to a statement from Southern Illinois U.S. Attorney Stephen Wigginton’s office. A judge also ordered him to repay the $82,763.47 in benefits he received from the U.S. Railroad Retirement Board.

In his plea, French admitted he concealed his employment status in order to receive occupational disability benefits between May 2009 and June 2012.
