St. Louis man pleads guilty to murder of ex-girlfriend

A man charged with killing his ex-girlfriend and dumping her body in the metro-east has pleaded guilty on the eve of his trial.

Raamon Reed, 48, formerly of St. Louis, was to stand trial next week for the murder of Tabitha Milton-Rush, who was found dead along Interstate 255 near Bethalto in January 2013. Police believed Reed had shot her multiple times and dumped her body alongside the road.

On Wednesday, Reed pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree murder and one count of concealment of a homicidal death before Madison County Associate Judge Neil Schroeder. The Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office will seek a sentence of 40 years, according to spokeswoman Stephanee Smith. His sentencing will take place at a later time.

The case was investigated by the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis.
