A Fairview Heights candy store was robbed at just before noon Tuesday.

According to police department reports, at about 11:45 a.m. a man wearing a brown work-type jacket, light gray running pants and red tennis shoes came into the Russell Stover store at 5503 N. Illinois Street and approached the cash register to buy an item. When the clerk opened the cash register to give the man change, the man grabbed cash from the drawer.

The man, who was about 6 feet tall with a dark complexion, got away with an undetermined amount of money from the register and was last seen heading south on foot.

Officers used a Belleville Police Department tracking dog in an attempt to locate the suspect, but the dog lost the scent.

Police said no weapon was displayed or implied during the robbery and no one was hurt.
