Suspect driving stolen car eludes police in Cahokia

Police on Tuesday afternoon chased a suspect driving a car that was believed to be stolen in Cahokia.

According to police reports, the vehicle was spotted at about 1 p.m. An officer chased the car at speeds of up to 80 mph on northbound Illinois 3 toward Sauget.

When the chase reached the railroad tracks near the Solutia plant, the officer was told by a dispatcher to break off the pursuit.
