Three Madison County men are charged in the robbery of a 60-year-old man that occurred Monday night in Granite City.

Willie H. Beckwith, 19, and Anthony N. Keltz, 18, both of Granite City, and Charleston E. Hilton, 36, of Edwardsville, each face charges of robbery of an elderly victim and aggravated battery. They’re in the Granite City Jail with bonds set at $150,000 each.

According to Granite City police, the male victim told officers he was walking in the parking lot of an apartment building in the 1900 block of State Street when he was approached from behind by three men around 11:30 p.m. The victim said he was choked and knocked to the ground by the men, who then took an undisclosed amount of cash from the victim’s pants pockets before running off.

Detectives developed leads that led to the arrest Tuesday of two of the three men. The third was arrested early Wednesday.
