Police find vehicle involved in Swansea carjacking
Police have found a car reported stolen over the weekend during a Swansea carjacking.
According to police reports, the crimes occurred about 3 p.m. Sunday at a home at 1249 Roger Ave.
Police said they arrived at the residence within minutes of the call. But when officers got there the caller was gone.
“A short time later they located the caller at 1241 Roger Avenue talking on two cellphones at once and emitting a strong smell of cannabis,” Police Chief Steve Johnson said in an emailed statement. “He stated that he took his trash out from his apartment, drove his vehicle about 50 yards to the dumpster and parked by the garbage dumpster to throw trash away.”
The caller said an unknown black male wearing a black hoodie and a black coat who was armed with a pistol walked up from behind and said “I finally got you.”
The victim ran from the scene, noticing a second black male wearing red and black clothes behind the man with the gun. Both men got into the victim’s red 2005 Dodge Charger and left, according to police.
Johnson said the same vehicle was reported stolen in April by the owner in another jurisdiction.
The car was found at 10:30 a.m. Monday parked in an apartment complex in Riverview, Mo.
