Man’s attempt to shoot way into closed State Park Place store fails
St. Clair County Sheriff’s investigators say a man’s attempt to shoot his way into a closed convenience store Dec. 15 failed.
According to a statement, police believe a white man wearing a yellow pullover approached the closed Stop & Go at 8700 Collinsville Road in State Park Place sometime in the night and fired several shots into the glass door of the business with a handgun.
Investigator Jeffrey Hartsoe said Monday the glass door did not shatter or give way and the man was unable to enter the store. The man then ran off into the south side of the village.
Surveillance images were retrieved from the store, and Hartsoe urged anyone who recognizes the man to contact the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department.
