A Goreville man accused of sending pictures of a sexual nature to young girls in Troy is also on the sex offenders’ registry.

Mathew Lundak, 37, of Goreville, has been charged with four counts of sexual exploitation of a child, a Class 4 felony; and one count of “grooming,” a Class 4 felony. The latter charge alleges that he used an electronic device to attempt to seduce or solicit a child for unlawful sexual conduct. The former charges allege that he exposed himself to at least two girls aged 10 and 11 on multiple occasions in November.

According to Troy Police Chief Brad Parsons, Lundak allegedly used a cellphone to take pictures of himself and sent them to the girls who live in Troy. He said Lundak still had connections in Troy from a previous incident, which resulted in his prior convictions.

“These are the hardest cases because of the victims,” Parsons said. “The detectives did a great job.”

Felony charges were filed on Friday. Lundak’s bail was set at $250,000. Lundak was taken into custody on Monday and is being held at the Madison County Jail in lieu of bail.

Lundak is listed on the Illinois Sex Offenders Registry as a sexual predator. He was convicted of two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a 5-year-old child in 2006, and served three years and six months before he was released.
