Three cited in Collinsville for selling tobacco to minors

News-Democrat

Three people were cited for unlawful sale of tobacco to a minor after the Collinsville Police Department, with members of the Troy Police Explorers, conducted compliance checks Friday.

Those cited include Kaylani U. Moore, 20, of East St. Louis; Georgia A. Smith, 56, of Collinsville; and Faouzi Dahane; 51, of St. Louis.

The compliance checks targeted 24 local tobacco retail establishments. Sales occurred at Walmart, 1040 Collinsville Crossing; Casey’s General Store, 217 N. Bluff Road; and BP, 9504 Collinsville Road.

“By decreasing tobacco availability, we believe that these compliance checks will have a positive effect on the number of youth that may later become addicted to tobacco products later in life,” said Maj. Brett Boerm with the Collinsville Police Department.
