Belleville man who robbed driver of pizza, wings, cash gets 9 years
A 20-year-old Belleville man learned Friday he was headed to prison one year and six days after he robbed a pizza delivery driver of food and cash.
A federal judge sentenced Gregory Morgan to nine years and three months in prison, a statement from Southern Illinois Acting U.S. Attorney James Porter’s office said.
According to the statement, Morgan called Imo’s Pizza on Jan. 23, 2015 to order a pizza and some chicken wings for delivery. Wearing dark clothing and a bandana covering his face, Morgan waited outside for the delivery driver to arrive. When the driver arrived, Morgan brandished a gun and demanded the pizza, wings and any cash the driver had. Morgan ran off with the food and $45 in cash.
In addition to the prison term, Morgan faces two years probation and must pay a $200 special fee. He also must repay the $45 he stole from the delivery driver.
The FBI assisted Belleville police in the investigation.
