Belleville man faces sexual assault charges in case involving two children
A 66-year-old Belleville man faces eight felony charges in connection with multiple alleged sexual assaults of two children.
Dennis C. Theurer is charged with six counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, which are class 2 felonies, and two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault, which are class X felonies.
A post on the Belleville Police Department’s Facebook page stated Theurer allegedly committed the assaults against two children with whom he was “closely acquainted.” The assaults allegedly occurred between 2011 and Jan. 20, when the reports were made.
Additional information regarding the alleged crimes or the children was not released.
Police said they do not believe there are any other alleged victims, but they urged parents whose children may have had contact with Theurer to come forward to their local police department.
Theurer was in custody Wednesday at the St. Clair County Jail on $200,000 bond.
