Glen Carbon man pleads guilty to Maryville armed robbery
A Glen Carbon man has pled guilty to the armed robbery of a One Stop Shop Gas Station in Maryville on Jan. 14.
Jonathan Michael Malone, 53, plead to interference of commerce by robbery; brandishing a firearm in relation to a crime of violence, and unlawful possession of a firearm. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Malone has a previous conviction for armed robbery.
Armed robbery carries a maximum of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Malone’s sentencing is set for July 12.
Malone plead to the criminal charges in the United States District Court in East St. Louis; the case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney William E. Coonan.
Glen Carbon and Maryville police investigated the robbery along with the Illinois State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
