Man charged in stolen gun incident in Belleville

A 30-year-old Collinsville man who was arrested Thursday following a dispute in Belleville now faces charges in connection with the incident.

Police responded in force shortly before 1 p.m. Thursday to the first block of North 11th Street because someone reported shots had been fired. Police arrived to find several people arguing outside a row house.

It turned out no one fired any shots and no one was hurt, but officers did locate and detain Cedric A. Jackson, who matched the description given in a report of an armed man in the area.

Jackson’s SUV was towed and a gun — which had been reported stolen — was recovered.

Jackson was charged Friday with two counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
