Pizza Hut driver lured out and robbed in Collinsville

A Pizza Hut delivery driver apparently was lured out and then robbed while working Thursday night, according to Collinsville Police.

At about 9 p.m., a delivery driver for Pizza Hut was attempting to fulfill an order when he realized the address given for the order did not exist. He returned to his car, where he was approached by three men, one of whom produced a gun and demanded money, according to police.

The driver was not injured, according to Collinsville Detective Chris Warren. All three were wearing dark clothing and black hoodies with black ski masks and gloves, Warren said. The driver was able to see their eyes and skin around them, he said. The main suspect was described as a black male approximately 6 feet tall.

After stealing cash and the driver’s cell phone, the men fled the scene, police said. Warren said he is not aware of similar incidents in the area.

Anyone with information about the case or the suspect’s identity can call Detective Chris Warren at 344-2131, ext. 5139, or CrimeStoppers at 866-371-8477.
