A Collinsville man is facing charges of kidnapping his daughter from legal custody, and police asked Thursday for the public’s help in locating him.
Tchaka Spiller, 24, of Collinsville is accused of failing to return a 2-year-old girl believed to be his daughter to her mother Wednesday night as previously agreed. Collinsville Police first reached out to Spiller in an effort to get him to return the little girl, but according to the Madison County State’s Attorney’s office, “he has not been cooperative.”
He has been charged with one count of child abduction, a class 4 felony, and as of Thursday afternoon remained at large with 2-year-old Khalia Harper.
Spiller was believed to be in the St. Louis area, but may be headed to Chicago or Kansas City. He was believed to be driving a black 2004 Hyundai Sonata with Illinois license place Z352747.
Anyone with information about Spiller’s whereabouts can call the Collinsville Police Department at 344-2131 or their local police department.
If convicted, Spiller faces a maximum penalty of three years in prison. Madison County Circuit Judge Richard Tognarelli set his bail at $100,000.
