Police arrested one male suspect in Belleville early Friday after the driver fled from East St. Louis officers at a high rate of speed.
According to police radio traffic, at about midnight, East St. Louis police officers attempted to pull the vehicle over at 69th Street and Glenwood Avenue in East St. Louis.
The driver of the vehicle fled toward Belleville, heading east on Lake Drive and continuing on Foley Drive. Belleville Police Department units intervened in the incident. Eventually, police reported they had a subject in custody within 15 minutes.
Belleville Police Capt. John Moody said Friday afternoon that a male suspect, the driver, was taken into custody without incident.
There was no additional information immediately available Friday about what caused officers to initially try to pull over the suspect.
