Shotgun-toting suspect captured by St. Clair County deputies

Authorities have captured a man who brandished a shotgun Thursday in the Dutch Hollow neighborhood near Belleville before speeding off in a pickup truck.

According to St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department investigator Scott Toth, the man is in jail awaiting formal charges. He said the incident was part of a domestic disturbance.

On Thursday evening, the sheriff’s department received reports of a man with a shotgun in the area. He fled the scene in a blue Chevrolet S-10, possibly striking a pair of guard rails in an effort to get away.

The truck was located at about 10:30 p.m. Toth did not say when or how the suspect was caught. He said more information will be released when formal charges are issued.
