East St. Louis man charged with shooting at house in Cahokia
An East St. Louis man was charged Monday with aggravated discharge of a firearm for allegedly shooting at a house from a vehicle Saturday.
Madonn E. Armstrong, 30, was charged with being a felon in possession and use of a firearm.
Dennis Plew, Cahokia assistant chief of police, said the Cahokia Police Department received a call reporting “shots fired at a house from a vehicle,” Plew said. There were no injuries reported.
A witness told police the vehicle was a gray Dodge Charger. While a Cahokia police officer was responding to the call, he passed the car.
“The officer turned around and followed it. The officer located the vehicle on Mississippi Avenue. Three people were walking from it. All three were taken into custody. Two people were later released,” Plew said.
An investigation determined that Armstrong, who has prior felony convictions, was the shooter, Plew said. It is not known whether police recovered a weapon.
Armstrong had been previously convicted of unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle.
According to the arrest warrant, Armstrong violated an order of protection because he was not supposed to be within 500 feet of a residence in the 1100 block of Camp Jackson Road.
Armstrong was booked into the St. Clair County Jail on $250,000 bail.
