Southern Illinois University Edwardsville is now a Peace Corps Prep site.
Peace Corps Prep helps prepare undergraduate students in four core areas — sector-specific skills, foreign language competency, intercultural competence, and professional savvy and leadership — that are important for fieldwork as a Peace Corps volunteer.
Starting in the fall, undergraduate students can apply for the program through the study abroad adviser in the SIUE Office of International Affairs.
“This program provides an opportunity for students at SIUE to contribute to international peace, social justice and the development of full human potential,” Mary Weishaar, executive director of international affairs, said in a news release. “It supports and helps develop the SIUE values of citizenship, excellence, inclusion, integrity and wisdom.”

After completing the program, students receive a certificate from the Peace Corps. Completion of the program does not delay student progress toward graduation.
