Collinsville boy’s fundraiser builds a home in Haiti
Last year, a local boy played the baritone in his driveway to raise money for Haiti. Now, that money has been used to build a home for one family.
Miguel Billings, a fourth-grade student at Good Shepherd Lutheran School, was motivated to help after hearing about the need for homes in Haiti following the 2010 earthquake.
He inspired his classmates to donate and many joined him in playing their instruments, according to a news release from his school.
Miguel’s goal was to collect $4,775, enough for missionaries in Haiti to build a house. He surpassed that, raising a total of $5,565.
