An associate professor at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville was recently honored with not just one award, but two.
Ryan Fries was awarded the 2017 University of Delaware Department of Civil Engineering Citation for Outstanding Achievement and the Illinois-Indiana Region American Society of Engineering Education Outstanding Representative.
Fries, who attended the University of Delaware for his undergraduate degree in civil engineering, said he was “humbled” to receive an award from his alma mater, according to a news release from SIUE.
“I am dedicated to undergraduate education in my SIUE work, and I was happy with the foundation I established at Delaware through my undergraduate work,” Fries said in a news release. “I am unaware as to who nominated me for this award, so both were pleasant surprises within a busy month.”
These aren’t Fries first awards. He also received SIUE’s Paul Simon Outstanding Teacher-Scholar award in 2015. He’s worked at SIUE for nearly a decade.
He has a master’s degree and doctorate from Clemson University in South Carolina.
