Public invited to Columbia town hall meeting on school funding reform

On Wednesday night, local superintendents and education advocates are inviting the public to a town hall meeting to discuss school funding.

Attendees will hear a presentation on the evidence-based school funding model, Senate Bill 1, which was approved by the General Assembly in May, as well as another proposal in Springfield. Individuals will be able to ask questions about school funding during the meeting, which is scheduled for 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Columbia Middle School.

Columbia District 4 Superintendent Gina Segobiano and Granite City District 9 Superintendent Jim Greenwald will be present along with representatives from the Fix the Formula Illinois campaign.

The meeting will take place at 100 Eagle Drive in Columbia.
